The White House

In third grade Matthew was studying about rocks, a study which lead to Mount Rushmore, and to a discussion of why the President’s faces were carved into the side of the hill. He was fascinated with President Teddy Roosevelt’s life, particularly how he overcame his childhood illness.  After creating a timeline comparison of their two lives, Matthew’s teacher asked him what he wanted to do for his country since Teddy Roosevelt had done so much for the United States.   Giving it some thought, Matthew decided he wanted to help the children in his class to have better teachers.  He wrote to Mrs. Laura Bush, and she called and wrote back to Matthew. The White House.
